Yali added that it is “especially disturbing” that these kind of comments are finding their way into U.S. media more and more often. On Tuesday, House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy said Republicans won’t write a “blank check” for Ukraine if the party manages to retake the House majority in the midterm elections, suggesting that record-high inflation will change people’s willingness to support Kyiv’s fight against the Moscow invasion....

Speaking Wednesday at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Lviv, Ukraine, Polish President Andrzej Duda said his country will soon deliver a company of German-made Leopards to neighboring Ukraine. (A company typically consists of 14 tanks.) News regarding the Leopards came on the same day that Russia claimed its military had taken control of Soledar, a Ukrainian town in the Donbas region, near Bakhmut. Ukraine has denied Russia’s claims, but a victory there would give Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forces a major advancement after recent losses....

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said Saturday: “Three enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) destroyed per day by soldiers of the aircraft regiment of the Ukrainian Air Force. “Every day, anti-aircraft fighters bring victory one step closer. One UAV yesterday evening and two in the morning were destroyed by servicemen of the anti-aircraft missile regiment of Air Command Central, which is carrying out combat missions in designated areas on the eastern borders of Ukraine....

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the situation with Russia is “under control. The government has insisted the possibility of an invasion is not close and there is “no reason to panic,” the New York Post reported. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said Friday that Russia has about 130,000 troops near the border. However, the size is similar to when Moscow conducted military exercises last spring. They ultimately pulled back once the drills were complete, the Associated Press reported....

While Mumbai Khiladis were no match for Gujarat Giants in the first-ever match in the league as they lost by a big margin, the southern derby between Chennai Quick Guns and Telugu Yoddhas was much more competitive and was a close encounter. On the second day of the tournament (August 15), both teams were in action again. The pizza chain tweeted this week that if a number 16 seed beat a number one seed, everyone in the United States would get a free lunch combo April 2. It seemed a pretty safe idea considering top-ranked teams were 135-0 against such opponents going into Friday’s games. Then UMBC happened. The University of Maryland Baltimore County defeated number one seed Virginia 74-54 to become the first number 16 seed to upset the odds, and Little Caesars tweeted after the game it will honour the promotion....

This should be a great fight between two guys who genuinely don’t like each other. So far, the press conferences have been entertaining, with the war of words continuing to heat up. It will certainly be interesting to see the stare down at the weigh-in. As for the fight itself, this should be a lot closer than the line indicates. Both fighters have been top middleweights for a long time, and both need a win here to get closer to a title shot....

For the majority part of it, Niko Price dominated the fight and could’ve easily taken home the win, however, due to a few accidental eye pokes, the judges eventually decided to call the bout as a majority draw. With two judges scoring the fight 28-28, courtesy of the point deduction caused by the eye poke, the third official recorded the fight in favor of Cowboy with a 29-27 score after three rounds....

The Prosecutor General’s Office has reported at least 109 children who have died during the invasion with at least 130 others wounded, according to The Kyiv Independent. Russia has repeatedly denied accusations that soldiers have attacked civilian buildings or civilians themselves as photo and video evidence of such attacks and reports of wounded or killed civilians and journalists have mounted in the weeks after the February 24 invasion. “We have 109 children who are like angels, and they have closed the sky as angels because there is no respective decision to close the sky over Ukraine,” said Andriy Sadovyi, the mayor of Lviv, at a Friday press conference....

In a post on the messaging app Telegram, Belgorod regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said “the fire at the oil depot occurred as a result of an air strike from two helicopters of the armed forces of Ukraine, which entered the territory of Russia at a low altitude....

The press service of the National Guard of Ukraine said on Friday that ammunition, tanks and equipment left behind by Russian forces are helping Ukrainian troops to effectively carry out a counteroffensive in the southern Kherson region. “The [fire]power [of the National Guard] has increased at least twice,” National Guard fighter Yurii Tarasov was quoted as saying. “Their [equipment] feasibility is great, because due to the rains, offensive actions can only be carried out if you have ‘goosenecks’ [caterpillar tracks on military vehicles],” he said....

Images released by the Ukrainian military show two Russian tanks driving along a road in Ukraine when they are suddenly blown up. Ukrainian troops said they used a Swedish AT-4, which is an unguided, single-shot, man-portable, anti-tank rocket launcher, as well as a Ukrainian rocket launcher. The images were obtained from the 80th Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Monday, along with a statement saying: “Soldiers of 80th Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine keep on terminating the tanks of the Russian invaders....

Andrei Deniskin of HC Kremenchuk was ejected after taunting Jalen Smereck of HC Donbass Donetsk by mimicking peeling a banana and eating it. On Wednesday, the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine announced they banned Deniskin for at least three games. He was also suspended for an additional 10 games and fined an equivalent to a $1,870. “Donbass Hockey club strongly denies all forms of discrimination and is outraged by the behavior of Andrei Deniski,” the club said in a statement at the time of the incident....
