“The Air Force reliably defends the Ukrainian sky and gives a worthy rebuff to the Russian aggressor in it,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a tweet early Sunday. “Thank you for your professionalism and dedication to the defense of Ukraine!” On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also released a video to celebrate Air Force of Ukraine Day. Posting the video on social media, Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko outlined his “eternal gratitude” to all of the country’s “sky defenders....

The video, that was posted on Visegrád 24, has so far been viewed more than 260,000 times. “One of the first Ukrainian soldiers to reach the border with Russia in the northern part of the Kharkiv region records a video of the historic moment,” the Twitter page is captioned. “The Russians are nowhere to be seen. How far into the country have they retreated?” the caption says. “There’s the sign marking the border with the Russians and there [behind me] a Ukrainian flag,” the soldier says in the video according to a translation by Newsweek, which has not been able to confirm the authenticity of the footage....

Both the Kakhovka Bridge and the Antonovsky Bridge near occupied Kherson were struck by Ukraine’s forces. It comes as Ukraine is waging a counter-offensive toward the city, which was seized by Russia in the early stages of the war. The strikes came as Ukraine marked 31 years of independence from the Soviet Union. The Kherson region has been almost entirely under the control of Russian forces since the beginning of March when it became the first major city to be seized by Russian troops since the war began....

Kuleba is the first Ukrainian foreign minister to make a diplomatic trip to Africa. Kuleba began the tour in the west African nation of Senegal on Tuesday, meeting with Senegalese Economy Minister Oulimata Sarr. “The key topic of the minister’s negotiations will be the consolidation of political support for Ukraine from the countries of the Global South against the background of Russian aggression, in particular the latest attempt to annex Ukrainian territories,” Ukraine’s foreign ministry said in a statement....

“The Russian position in upper Kherson Oblast is…likely untenable; and Ukrainian forces will likely capture upper Kherson Oblast by the end of 2022,” the ISW said in a Russian offensive campaign assessment on Monday. “Russian forces have begun a partial withdrawal from northwestern Kherson Oblast even while preparing to defend Kherson City. They have not launched into a full withdrawal from the city or the oblast as of this report....

Ukrainian authorities said the Russian group used civilian automobiles and camouflage during their advance in the eastern Ukrainian region. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine said Monday: “Special forces of the National Guard destroyed the advancing Russian observation groups in Donetsk region.” “In addition to military equipment, the occupiers used civilian cars and camouflage. However, Guardsmen discovered them on the way and waited for an opportune moment to deliver pinpoint strikes from artillery and dropping VOGs from drones....

Denisova, the Ukrainian Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights, made the claims during an appearance on Russian-language Prague-based TV channel Nastoyashcheye Vremya (Current Time). “Passports are taken away [from deported Ukrainians]. They [passports] are taken away in a filtration camp,” Denisova said. According to the ombudswoman, Russian forces are forcibly deporting Ukrainian citizens by first taking them to filtration camps in the Donetsk region, and then transporting them to Russian territory through the Russian-controlled republics in eastern Ukraine....

In case you didn’t know.. During the initial match-making days for the UFC 230 event that took place on November 3rd at Madison Square Garden, Yoel Romero was all set to square off against the number 8 middleweight contender, Paulo Costa. After being rendered medically unfit to compete at UFC 230, Romero was re-scheduled to fight Costa at UFC Brooklyn, on January 19th. This postponed fight has now been scrapped once again, as Costa suffered a freak injury that will delay his return back to the UFC up until March 2019....

Machida, 37, has stayed busy and will be making his fourth appearance in the octagon within the last year. His most recent fight was a disappointing second-round stoppage loss to top contender Luke Rockhold in April. The loss shouldn’t take away from Machida’s impressive career, as he’s always faired well against weaker competition. Machida (22-6) has been a reliable favorite to bet on, finishing most of his opponents early in the fight....

Silva (18-5-1) has really made a name for himself in the UFC heavyweight division over the last few years as someone who should always be taken seriously when signing up to fight against him. With KO wins over Alistair Overeem and hot up-and-comer Travis Browne, Silva has proved to be dangerous at any point in a fight. Since 2010, Silva has only three losses on his resume. Of those losses, two were against current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, whom I regard as the best heavyweight in the history of MMA, and the other to undefeated Daniel Cormier, who has a shot at the light heavyweight title later this year....
